Reasons to love Miss Hammurabi just by watching episode 1
Miss Hammurabi ( 미스 함무라비) is a Korean Drama on JTBC which started airing on May 21st of this year and is currently airing every Monday and Tuesday. Miss Hammurabi is a legal drama following the lives of judges. It is definitely a drama to look out for and love, especially because of Go Ara's character.
Go Ara plays a rookie judge Park Cha O Reum, just in episode one alone she helps a young girl on the train who is groped by an older man by exposing his actions to the whole train which causes a commotion. Once the video goes viral her senior judge calls her in and openly blames the young girl for wearing a short skirt in which Park Cha O Reum challenges.
She stands up against the 'you're asking for it by wearing a short skirt' comment and she challenges this herself by, later in the episode, wearing a short skirt herself and as her senior judge obviously has a problem with it she goes into the bathroom and changes into an outfit which covers her whole body trying to make a statement that clothes don't speak for what the person wearing them wants or doesn't want. Her character needs an applause and I'm excited to see what she is like in future episodes.
Another reason to love this drama is Infinite L's (Kim Myungsoo) acting. Over all his acting is always amazing and he deserves high praise as he can take over all sorts of roles. From acting as a punk boy band member in Shut Up Flower Boy Band to taking on a role of a lawyer in this new drama. Myungsoo's acting is one to look out for.
Just another reason to add to the list is the fact that they stand up for gender equality, in the episode Myungsoo's character Im Bareun goes to another judge to get intel on the senior judge, the same one who believes short skirts means a girl is asking for it, when seated a man comes in and offers him tea. He looks at Jung Bowang (played by Ryu Deokhwan) and asks who that man was. Bowang then proceeds in calling him the female of the office, Bareun confused questions this in which Bowang says "The nation's first male office secretary". Ending the conversation Im Bareun shuts down the comment by saying that males can also do the job just as well as females can.
Overall between the interesting characters, gender right underlying tones and the hint of future romance shown between Go Ara's and L's characters, resulting by the flashbacks of high school days, This drama is one to look out for.
